The main objective of the Open Learning for Land Offices TEMPUS Joint European Project was the development of open learning materials and course infrastructure in land administration within the College of Surveying and Land Management (CSLM), Szekesfehervar at professional and postgraduate level. The chief requirement of the project is to support the economic and social transition in Hungary.

The short cycle professional and practically oriented courses will provide essential education and training for the professional staff of the Hungarian Land Offices who are currently involved in the EU PHARE Computerisation of Land Offices Project.

The modules developed in a 3 years period as a number of separate subjects through the cooperation of the College of Surveying and Land Management (CSLM), Székesfehérvár, University of Veszprém, the Department of Land Surveying at University of East London (UEL), UK, and the Distance Learning Group of the Katholieke Universtiet Leuven (KUL) in Belgium.

Short description of subject areas

The chief requirement of the project is to support the economic and social transition in Hungary. The subject areas described below clarify how professionally trained Land Managers in the Land Registration Sector can contribute to this process. The importance for countries in transition is emphasised.

Course Description


The Course Description was introduced to the public in different conferences and seminars. Prof Peter Dale (president of FIG) as chairman of OLLO Advisory Board evaluated highly at the FIG Conference in Brighton, 1998 its value in CPD of Land Administration.
