CEEPUS visit in Olomouc

 

Professor MARKUS visited Palacky University, Olomouc, Czech Republic  from 8th till 14th May 2006.

 

Olomouc is a prominent centre of education. The University of Olomouc, the second oldest university in Czech lands (after Charles University in Prague). The history of higher education in Olomouc began in 1566, when a Jesuit college was established in the town. In 1573 this college was granted University rights, the same rights as other universities in Germany, Italy, Spain or France. Nowadays the University has seven faculties (more info at http://www.upol.cz/en/).

 

The University of West Hungary College of Geoinformatics involved in a CEEPUS project (Nr. CII-AT-0062-01-0506) together with the Department of Geoinformatics, Faculty of Earth Sciences at the Palacky University.

 

 

 

During his visit Prof Markus gave three lectures for the students in Geoinformatics as follows:

  1. Trends in Geoinformatics

  2. Planning and implementing GIS projects

  3. Digital Elevation Modelling in GIS

The study trip was sponsored by CEEPUS.

 

Throughout the discussions with doc. RNDr. Vít VOŽENÍLEK, head of Department of Geoinformatics many common fields of researches were discovered. The parties agreed on widening cooperation in the future in the frame of Socrates- Erasmus EU programme.
