Professor MARKUS visited Mendel University of Agriculture and Forestry in Brno, Czech Republic from 3rd till 6th June 2007.
Mendel University of Agriculture and Forestry in Brno can pride itself on the longest history of agriculture and forestry studies on the Czech lands. It was established in 1919 as the University of Agriculture in Brno. Mendel University of Agriculture and Forestry in Brno (MUAF in Brno) is divided into four faculties. Faculty of Agronomy, Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology, and Faculty of Business and Economics are all located in Brno. Faculty of Horticulture is then located in Lednice. The total number of students enrolled at all four faculties was almost 8,000 in the year 2004. |
The University of West Hungary Faculty of Geoinformatics involved in a CEEPUS project (Nr. CII-AT-0062-02-0607) together with the Department of Geoinformation Technologies. Teaching and research at Department of Geoinformation Technologies are focused on geospatial data acquiring and processing. Courses provided: Surveying and land records, Geographic information systems, Remote sensing, Digital cartography, Analogue and digital photogrammetry, Digital terrain model and its applications, Landed property projects, Aerial and spatial photography interpretation, Digital processing of remotely sensed data, Analysis and decision support in GIS, Geoengineering methods, etc. Teaching is carried out at three faculties of Mendel University - Faculty of Forestry and Wood technology, Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty of Horticulture.
During his visit Prof Markus gave three lectures for the PhD students in Geoinformatics as follows:
1. Trends in Geoinformatics
2. Planning and implementing GIS projects
3. Digital Elevation Modelling in GIS
Throughout the discussions with Prof . Vladimír Židek and Dr. Martin Klimánek head of Department many common fields of researches were discovered. The parties agreed on widening cooperation in the future in the frame of Socrates- Erasmus EU programme. |
