Chinese delegation at UWH

At the begining of September, 2005, a seven-member delegation arrived to Hungary from China. The goal of the visit was to examine the GIS application possibilities, but looking further the goal was also to widen the cooperation with the colleges in Sopron, Gyor and Mosonmagyaróvár starting from tourism management to biotechnology.



In the frame of the visit the delegation members - among others - had discussions with Academician Ákos Detrekoi, with the president of the the National Council of Communication and Informatics, who is a professor of the College of Geoinformatics.

The Institute of Geodesy, Cartography and Remote Sensing was introduced by director general Dr. Szabolcs Mihály, and he gave information about the projects of the external Department of Geoinformation Technologies of College of Geoinformatics. The Chinese colleagues expressed great interest towards the operative remote sensing and spatial informatics projects.

The director of EUROSENSE reported about the Hungarian arial survey campaigns of years 2000 and 2005.

The delagation was listening to Edina Németh, manager of the EU IST Pro group with interest. She was speaking about the possibilities of the EU IST (Information Society Technologies) program.

In the frame of the visit to Gyor, Dr. Sándor Cseh, general director introduced the cooperation plans of Faculty of Apáczai Csere János Teacher Training College, with specail emphasis on the tourism management teaching. After this professor Vince Ördög, the dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences held a lecture about the common research possibilities, and Miklós Neményi, the deputy dean of the faculty was talking about the gained results in precision farming.


The Chinese delegation visited also the central faculties in Sopron, where the deputy rector, András Náhlik met the delegation. Professot Náhlik introduced the educational and research activities at the Faculty of Forestry, deputy dean Zsolt Kovács was talking about the teaching and research activitites of the Faculty of Wood Sciences.

 

 

At the Faculty of Economics, Erzsébet Gidai, dean was talking with warm words about the successes of the Faculty in the last ten years and in detail she described the PhD program. Dr. Attila Fábián, the deputy dean introduced the building and the development plans of the youngest faculty at the university.
